DAVID KLEIN (1918-2005)

DISNEYLAND / FLY TWA / LOS ANGELES. Circa 1955.

40x25 inches, 101 1/2x63 1/2 cm.
Condition A-: minor losses, small tears and abrasions at edges; slight darkening at upper left edge. Paper.

Opened to the public on July 17, 1955, Disneyland was visited by over 50 million people during its first decade. This poster presents the Sleeping Beauty Castle and the TWA Moonliner, which was part of the futuristic exhibition located at Disneyland's Tomorrowland. That the spacecraft bore TWA's name and logo is a tribute to early product placement, a result of TWA, and its owner Howard Hughes, sponsoring the Moonliner, which stayed on display at Disneyland until he sold the airline in 1961. Huhne p. 63.
