DAVID KLEIN (1918-2005) NEW YORK / FLY TWA. 1956. 40x25 1/8 inches, 101 1/2x64 cm. Condition A. A bright, geometric, abstract, kaleidoscopic view of Times Square, with its billboards, signs, lights, traffic, energy and excitement; in electric shades of orange, fuchsia, yellow, blue and green. This is the rare, first printing of the poster which features a detailed image of a TWA Constellation. Later versions depict the silhouette of a jet plane. A year after it was issued, a copy of this poster was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art. Metzel p. 166.
