A pre-World War II poster encouraging women to enroll in ARP, Air Raid Precautions. The poster is signed, but the artist is unknown, which is a shame as this image is extremely deft. It is vertically divided into three parts, two in black and the center in gradual shades of blue, like a giant searchlight seeking enemy aircraft and shining onto her face on which it casts a shadow. With its well-placed typography, it is a strong and efficient image that masterfully organizes its minimal elements.
