Dawn L. Stringer is a self taught abstract painter. Stringer became a full time in artist in 2015 after retiring and currently lives and works in Oak Park, MI. She has described her non-objective work's message as an aesthetic experience: "My paintings are created in an attempt to stimulate the viewer's imagination and challenge their perception through rich colors and texture. I'd simply like the viewer to get lost within the beauty of the painting." She has recently included in I Kan Do That, Rush Arts Philadelphia, curated by Danny Simmons and Noah Smalls in 2019, and was a Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series Finalist at Scope Miami in 2017. Her paintings are found in the collections of the The Legal Aid Society of Staten Island, NY, the Akwaaba Gallery, Newark, NJ and The Kresge Foundation, Midtown Detroit.
