The massive famine in Russia in 1921 received international attention and organizations were formed to help feed the millions of people starving in the Soviet lands. Among them was the Auslands Komitee zur Organisierung der Arbeitshilfe für die Hungernden in Russland, formed in Germany and for whom Kathe Kollwitz designed a poster; they organized shipments of food from around the world (Albert Einstein and George Grosz were also members). Although only signed with initials, this poster has occassionally been attributed to Viktor Deni. Birkholz was a well-known Berlin printer, who also printed Kollwitz's posters. previously unrecorded and rare.
