The first page begins with a near-transcription of Lord Clarendon's account of the Battle of Naseby (p. 589 in the 1839 Oxford Press edition): "June 13 K[ing] received intell[igence] th[at] F[airfax] was advanced to Northampton with a strong army; whereupon K[ing] retired next day to Harborough, meaning to have gone back to Leicester that he m[igh]t draw more foot out of Newark and stand upon his defence . . . ."
The second page ends with the Siege of Bristol (p. 604 of same edition): "Ab[ou]t the mid[dle] of Sept[ember] P[rince] Rup[ert] surrenders Bristol. From Ludlow K[ing] had gone through Shrop[shire] and Derbys[hire] to Wellbeck house of the M[arquis of] Newcastle in Nottinghamshire . . . ."
