"I received your . . . kindly offer to publish some of my works. I must tell you frankly, though, that the terms you offer are very much too low. . . . I receive never less than 20% of the catalog price. Also when it is an orchestral or choral work, which is mostly the case, I also receive half of the loan of the material. I naturally could not entertain any terms so very much inferior to this . . . ."
