Acquired directly from the artist by the current owner, private collection, New York.
The full inscription in black crayon lower center reads: "6' x 20' x 50' Study for Digestion Gyspum [sic] Gypsies--Project with Latex Deer with Wax Coating, Butane Gas Tanks, Jets in Antlers--Plaster Gypsies N. Y> Installation."
This is a study for the installation by Oppenheim (1938-2011), Digestion, Gypsum Gypsies, pigmented fiberglass, gas, wax, rubber hose, cast resin, regulator, jeweler's torch tips and steel bolts, 1989, now in the collection of the Helsinki City Art Museum, Helsinki, Finland.
