After the First World War, efforts were undertaken to help find jobs for returning servicemen. 340,000 troops returned in June of 1919 alone and finding employment for them was of utmost importance to the Department of Labor. Private companies also made an effort, conveyed here with a businessman, the factories of his empire visible through the window behind him, extending the hand of employment to a soldier and a sailor. Though likely not the artist of this poster, the signature of Georges Musaphia appears at the bottom. He was the art director of the design department as well as the sales manager of Foster & Kleiser - a well-known billboard advertisement company on the West Coast.
