SKI BIG BROMLEY / MANCHESTER • VERMONT. Circa 1939.

19 3/4x12 1/2 inches, 50 1/4x31 3/4 cm.
Condition B+: abrasions and chipping at edges and in image. Mounted on display cardboard.

Fred Pabst, Jr., grandson of the founder of Pabst Beer, opened the first rope tow at "Little Bromley" in 1938, and "Big Bromley" the following year, following with a J-bar in 1942. Unlike many ski resorts, Bromley is a south-facing mountain and the extra sunshine has earned it the moniker "sun mountain," a meteorological fact indicated on the poster. A rare photomontage document from the early days of skiing in the Northeast.
