Charles Draeger founded his printing company in 1887. For over fifty years Draeger was synonymous with the highest quality designs and printing. They printed posters for the most prestigious brands of perfume, fashion and automobiles, as well as the enduring and eminently popular campaign for Nicolas Wines. They worked with great artists such as Jean Carlu, Paul Iribe, Martin and A.M. Cassandre, as well as a stable of unrecognized yet immensely talented designers. Here, in an almost dada-esque still life, the world of pictorial advertising is irresistibly, and rather curiously, expressed via marble eyes and pince-nez glasses. The modernist photomontage is augmented by the dynamic 1950s-style typography.
