In 1934 and 1935, Australia celebrated the Victorian centennial, and in 1938, the country's sesquicentennial was celebrated in Sydney. For each of these events, a number of prominent posters were designed by the leading Australian poster artists. Less codified, was the South Australian centenary in Adelaide. Proclaimed a state in 1836, the events for this anniversary celebration included "The National Games, The Empire Exhibition, Pageants by Sea and Air, The Fight for the Ashes," - all of which are graphically depicted in silhouette between bold, diagonal swaths of text. rare. We could find no other copy at auction in over 15 years.
