A striking, decorative and imaginatively colored, late Art Nouveau era image for a Liverpool-based shipping company. Here, a woman in a faux marine outfit is being rowed out to the Victorian. The ship was built in 1905 and was the first turbine-propelled, triple-screw liner to work the Atlantic crossing. In 1914 she was commandeered into military service for the First World War, serving as an armed merchant cruiser. In 1917 the Allan Line merged with Canadian Pacific.
