From the moment cars became readily available to the general public, so too did the new owners' desire to push their vehicles to tremendous speeds. From 1904 through 1955, the American Automobile Association had a Racing Board, which was responsible for organizing car races around the country. In 1928, they sanctioned seven races, beginning with the Indianapolis 500 in May and ending with the International Motor Classic at Rockingham Park in Salem, New Hampshire. Pictured here are four Miller Racing Cars set to compete in the races of 1928. Harry Miller was considered America's preeminent race car designer in the 1920s and 30s. Among the great drivers who would have been competing that year were Ray Keech, Louis Meyer and Leon Duray.
