Lefèvre-Utile was one of the top brands of biscuits in France. Their success rested largely on their aggressive and creative advertising campaigns featuring posters designed by some of the era's top artists. Olibet was a competitor who saw the advantages of widespread advertising. Here, in a painterly, almost academic style, the artist captures a very straightforward and tender moment. The image was printed with the frame included at the edges, inviting the public to hang it up on the wall at home.
