in Los Angeles, the first Christopher Street West gay pride parade, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall uprising in New York City, took place on June 28, 1970 in which about 1,000 demonstrators took to the streets to march for LGBTQ rights. It was the reportedly first permitted LGBTQ protest in history. This poster for the 6th annual march featured a bicentennial theme.
