Situated in South Tyrol, near the Brenner Pass, Gossensass (Colle Isarco, in Italian) became a popular resort in the 19th century, counting Henrik Ibsen among its most famous guests. In the winter, people could ski, ice skate and toboggan. Pictured here is the Grand Hotel Gröbner, which burned down in 1945 after an explosion caused by American ammunition stored there. Although it is impossible to precisely date this poster, the woman's ski attire and the single pole being used suggest that it is circa 1910.
