Sulfur springs in Eastern Europe have long been sought out to cure a host of maladies. The Silesian town Bad Landeck (Ladek Zdroj, in Polish), has been a spa of great renown for centuries. The traces of radium in the water there has been said to help cure gout, rheumatism, and other disorders. This light-toned image finds its inspiration in the work of Ludwig Hohlwein.
