Callery was a sculptor and an art collector who lived, worked and collected in France during the 1930s until the outbreak of the war forced her to return to America. She became part of the New York Art Movement and one of her sculptures resides above the curtain (at the top of the proscenium) inside New York's Metropolitan Opera House.
