PALISADES AMUSEMENT PARK. 1909.

20½x13½ inches, 52x34¼ cm. Standard Litho. Co., New York.
Condition A / A-: minor expert restoration in margins.

Originally named "The Park on the Palisades" by the Bergen County Trolley Company when it bought the 38-acre tract in 1898. In 1908, the park was purchased by August Neumann, the first mayor of Cliffside Park, who hired Alvin H. Dexter as manager, to add rides and attractions. The park opened under the name "Palisades Amusement Park," until 1910 when it was briefly re-named the "Schenck Brothers Palisade Park," then finally back to "Palisades Amusement Park" when it changed ownership once again. The Rosenthal brothers who then owned the park, were successful concessionaires in several parks, and even built the famous Coney Island Cyclone. The park was permanently closed in 1971, after the land was sold to developers. Copyright by Albert Tusch is noted at the bottom of this poster - he was the manager of the park for the 1909 season (likely not the artist).
