Situated on Lake Zurich, Rapperswil is known as the Swiss Riviera. The Polish Museum was founded in 1870 and quickly became a focal point of the Polish diaspora and an important repository of Polish art and artifacts. It had such an important collection that it was repatriated to Poland in 1927 as an integral part of Polish heritage, but unfortunately, the collection was almost entirely destroyed during World War II.
