DESIGNER UNKNOWN RIDE IN SPLENDOR / RIDE THE TRAIL BLAZER / PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD. Circa 1948. 40 1/4x25 inches, 102x63 1/2 cm. Condition A-: minor restoration at edges and in corners. Put into service in 1939, the Trailblazer was the Pennsylvania Railroad's first all-coach train, providing service between New York, Pittsburgh and Chicago. Here, a scene from the club car where one could go to listen to the radio, smoke or read a magazine. A railroad brochure from the era touted the club car by saying, "it's like a smoking lounge in a fine club."
