The City of Keansburg was the flagship of the Keansburg Steamboat Company's line. Built in Newburgh, NY in 1926, the steamboat worked the NYC ferry route until hurricane Donna destroyed the Keansburg pier, one final time in 1962. Steamboats departed the Battery on Fridays to Keansburg Beach, NJ. Round trip fares in 1940 were 75 cents for adults and 40 cents for children. The same operator offered Midnight Sails nightly with Freddy Sleckman and his Swing Orchestra. By 1949, adult tickets had gone up to $1.50 round trip (William J. McKelvey, lhry.org/nj-transportation-chronology).
