Two scientists disturbed by the danger of using test pilots in the first launch of nuclear-powered spaceships, create a robot that can be controlled by ESP to perform the task. Foreign agents try to steal the robot for their own nefarious purposes and kidnap one of the scientists who created the robot and his grandson in the process. Ultimately Tobor (Robot, spelled backwards) comes to the rescue. While there is no scene in the movie where the robot carries a woman in his arms, he does carry the adoring grandson in the final scene. Tobor was one of the three great, classic, on-screen robots designed by Robert Kinoshita, whose credits include Tobor, Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet and the B9, the robot from Lost in Space. This is the three-sheet version. Science Fiction p. 110 (var), Beauty and the Beast p. 46, Adler p. 9 (var), Graven Images p. 180 (var), Hershenson 60 p. 23 (var).
