Condition B+: extensive airbrushing in margins; sharp creases and abrasions in image. Yosemite's first ski school opened in 1928 in Ahwahnee, but the first lift began operations in 1933 at a different location - Badger Pass. When a lodge was finally opened at Badger Pass in 1935, the ski school found its new home there. In the 1920s, in an attempt to bolster Northern California's prominence in the winter sports industry, Yosemite was put forth as a location for the 1932 Winter Olympics in what was described in the Official Report as "one of the most aggressively presented proposals" (Official Report, III Olympic Winter Games, p. 48). The Olympic Committee unanimously decided on Lake Placid. This image also appeared on the cover of a brochure promoting the area in the mid-1930s.
