The only information available about Desmeures is that he designed one other poster besides this one. Much like this image for thread, his other design, for the 1931 Exposition Coloniale Internationale, is a competent Art Deco composition. Here, to advertise an exhibition of supplies for dressmakers and designers, the gentle stylization results in a virtual Art Deco "object poster", as two spools of thread and a needle boldly stand out against a black background. The clear, sans-serif typography adds to the overall ensemble and helps create a "petit maître" of the French Art Deco poster era.
