DEVANT David (David WIGHTON 1868-1941). Cinématographe - Jouet. Interesting variation on a flip book, with about 70 consecutive images hinged to a flexible circular ring suspended in a box, with the images moved by a revolving wheel which spans the box. The device is accompanied by 5 of the little revolving "shows," including one showing Devant performing a trick. The others include a sword fight, card players at a table, a comic scene with 3 people, and a chapeaugraphist (possibly Trewey). With the original box measuring 10x5 1/4x1 3/4 inches (25.5x13.5x4.5 cm). Np, circa 1900.
