the first edition of dickens's first published play. Laid in and enclosed in Otis S. Blodget folded stationery sheet is an original watercolor drawing by F. W. Pailthorpe for The Village Coquettes, signed in pencil, also another copy of the illustration in proof state, etched by Pailthorpe and colored by hand, both browned, edgewear not affecting images. On the latter plate the artist has written "The Village Coquettes. Act 2 Sc[ene] 1st." Eckel 157.
