Diogenese Ballester earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Catholic University in Puerto Rico, and a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He taught at Cooper Union, NY, SUNY, New Paltz, SUNY, Albany and the College of New Rochelle.
