Additional Details

In 1908 Rodman Wanamaker subsidized an expedition to document the way of life of the American Indians. This expedition was headed by Dixon. Dixon photographed in and around the camp at Little Big Horn, working with the Crow tribe, capturing everyday life and recreating scenes from the battle of Little Big Horn. These images were taken between 1908 and 1923. Over 8000 images of more than 150 Native American tribes were taken. The negatives are at the Mathers Museum of Indiana University.
