The first English edition and only illustrated edition. One of the great Renaissance herbals, A New Herbal was the most translated book of the era with the exception of the Bible. Dodoens was a physician and botanist who served Austrian Emperor Rudolf II as court physician before becoming Professor of Medicine at the University of Leiden in 1582.
