Pen and brown ink with touches of white gouache heightening on cream laid paper mounted on card stock. 181x113 mm; 71/8x41/2 inches. Inscribed "S. Sylvestre Confes---" in ink, lower center recto. Ex-collection unknown collector, coat-of-arms with a horizontal band ink stamp lower right recto (not in Lugt).

Saint Sylvester ascended to the papacy in 314, and was in the position during the reign of Emperor Constantine I. Among other things, he was instrumental in building the Church of Saint John Lateran. He died at Rome in 335.
