"DONFELD" (DONALD LEE FELD).
"Miss Collins." Costume design for Joan Collins, likely in her role as Cartier Rand in the 1984 television movie The Cartier Affair. Pen and ink with marker and correction fluid on board with printed logo. 430X273 mm; 17x10 3/4 inches. Signed "Donfeld" in lower center image; titled in artist's hand at upper left.

Born Donald Lee Feld, the four-time Academy Award nominee was a prolific designer in Hollywood throughout the 1960s, '70s, and '80s. In addition to more than thirty films, Donfeld also designed for television (he created costumes for Lynda Carter in the original Wonder Woman television series), cabaret, and for the Las Vegas shows of stars, such as Barbra Streisand and Nancy Sinatra. He formed close bonds with the stars he dressed and held near-weekly salons at his home for his celebrity friends.

For Collins' role as a glamorous film star, Donfeld created this seductive gown featuring a full scarlet satin skirt with a black boned bodice embellished in lace, sequins and beads.
