Additional Details

Possibly transcribed from a printed edition in French of a devotional work by Donthers (d. 1554), a priest who served as confessor to the Franciscan convent of Nivelles in Belgium. The book was apparently first published in Flemish in 1556. There is no single definitive source for the bibliography of the printed editions; all are of extreme rarity. None are recorded in Bibliotheca Belgica or NUC; Belgica Typographica 5649-51 cites 3 editions in Flemish to 1600 and none in French; OCLC locates the copy of a 1591 edition in French in the Bavarian State Library.
