DORIS ZINKEISEN (1898-1991) SCOTLAND / BY EAST COAST ROUTE. 40 1/8x49 7/8 inches. Haycock Press, London. Condition B+: minor restoration along sharp vertical and horizontal folds. Born in Scotland, Doris and her sister Anna both studied at the Royal Academy. They were both poster artists and their work "concentrated on events from history" (Railway p. 141). Doris "did much work for the stage, designing both sets and costumes" (ibid p. 158). In this dramatic, historical reenactment she depicts the scene wherein "The Articles of Union between England and Scotland were secretly signed in a cellar in High Street, Edinburgh 1706."
