Eaton (1893-1968) was born in East Orange, New Jersey and attended Smith College, Columbia University, and classes at the Art Students League in New York. Eaton exhibited at several New York galleries, and regularly showed her work at the National Association of Women Artists annual exhibition. The current painting was entered for consideration for the 1948 show, but according to the publication, was not exhibited.
