Kent (1888-1981), the sister of Rockwell Kent (1882-1971, see lots 142-146), was born in Tarrytown, New York. She first visited New Mexico in 1916, traveling on horseback along the Colorado Plateau in northern New Mexico. By 1930, she had settled in the Southwestern state. She worked in a variety of media, including watercolor, oil and lithography and was a member of the New York Society of Women Artists.
