DOROTHY WAUGH NATIONAL AND STATE PARKS. Circa 1934.
40x271/4 inches. U.S. Government Printing Office.
Condition B+: expertly restored losses and overpainting in margins and corners, some affecting image.
Unlike the other posters in Waugh's series for the National Parks, this bold, modernist poster differs in the manner in which it was printed. The gray areas on the geometrically rendered skier and in the image have been created using a photo-offset process. Her other posters were all created by letter press. The Library of Congress dates this poster from 1930, which seems too early, considering her other posters were created during National Parks Year in 1934. Ski pl. 8.
