Engraved titles, 2 portraits, 3 engraved plates, 54 hand-colored lithographs. 3 volumes. 4to, early 1/2 calf, worn, some covers detached, backstrips abraded and stained; browning and finger soiling but the plates generally clean, repaired tears to the portrait frontispiece, other tears affecting scattered text leaves, lacks the terminal 4 text leaves in volume 3; ex-library, with bookplates on the front pastedowns and a perforated stamp to the volume one title page and a few scattered text leaves (plates unmarked). the first major american book published with hand colored lithographed plates, considered the first colored sporting prints printed in america. Issued in monthly parts, publication ceased abruptly after only four numbers in the third volume.
