prints lincoln's proclamation of freedom and an article on the War: "Bravery of the Kansas Colored Troops and their Wrongs." The latter describes in detail a hand-to-hand engagement between twenty-four members of the colored troops and one hundred and twenty of the rebel cavalry. On the very last page, there is a small but important article on then Attorney General Bates and the question of Negro Citizenship.
