first and only edition, one of 200 copies printed. Following the death of Booker T. Washington in 1915, with racism, mob violence and lynching on the rise, the NAACP, under the leadership of W. E. B. Du Bois, called for an Historical Conference. Civil Rights leaders of 'all shades of opinion' gathered together to assess an approach to a 'New Era.' Du Bois later said of the conference, that 'it not only marked the end of old things, and the old thoughts, and the old ways of attacking the race problem, but in addition to this was the beginning of new things. Probably on account of our meeting, the Negro race was more and more ready to meet the problems of our world than it could ever have possibly been without these beautiful days of understanding.' The last copy of this to sell at auction brought $3120 at Swann's 2009 sale.
