160 letters written from Paris to fellow actor and co-star in the 1964 thriller, Lady in a Cage, William "Bill" Swan (1928-2019); this extensive archive documents the 47-year friendship between the two thespians; some letters written by hand, others typed and signed; Havilland recounts personal and professional experiences of significance; she writes about receiving the French Medal of Honor, describes personal family challenges, and gives much insider information concerning her ongoing film projects, public appearances, and more.
[Together with] related material including: a plaque celebrating de Havilland's role in Gone with the Wind; 2 black-and-white photos of de Havilland; an unsigned later reprint of her book, Every Frenchman has One; and a book edition of JFK's inaugural address signed and inscribed by de Havilland.
