The Great Stupa of Sanchi, built in the 3rd century by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka, is one of the oldest Buddhist monuments in the country. The dome of brick is shown in a mosaic of vibrant purple, orange, yellow, green and blue colors of the sunset.
