First edition of Dickens's second novel, three octavo volumes, mixed issue with "Boz" on title and the "Church" plate in place of the "Fireside" plate, half-titles present in volumes I and II as called for; illustrated with etched frontispieces and twenty-one plates by George Cruikshank; bound in 20th century full brown gilt-ruled calf by Birdsall with red and green morocco spine labels, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt; scattered small stains and spots; with publisher's horizontally-lined plum cloth spines bound in at the end of each volume; 7 3/4 x 4 3/4 in.
