Du Molinet, Claude (1620-1687)
Le Cabinet de la Bibliothèque Sainte Genevieve.

Paris: Antoine Dezallier, 1692.

First and only edition, large folio in two parts, illustrated with engraved title, author's portrait, additional engraved divisional title to second part, and forty-five engraved plates (of which five are folding), with engraved headpieces; bound in full contemporary calf with gilt-tooled spine (rebacked, original spine replaced); ex libris Alexander Hamilton, 10th Duke of Hamilton (1767-1852) with his large armorial bookplate inside front board; with a note of purchase dated 1891 initialed H.T.F.; blind embossed library stamp to title and following two leaves; 16 1/2 x 11 1/4 in.

The Bibliothèque Sainte Genevieve collection included specimens of natural history, coins, engraved gems, medals, and other antiquities. Molinet was the curator of the collection when he prepared this catalogue of its holdings. After the French Revolution, in 1791, the museum was turned over to the state. Because the Bibliothèque's non-book contents were later dispersed, Molinet's work is the only record of the collection.
