exceedingly scarce edition of martin luther's passional, "the first protestant collection of bible stories for children" (Bottigheimer), originally published as part of his 1529 Betbüchlein, and accompanied here by the Apostles' Creed in German with commentary by Luther. This is the fifth(?) edition with the series of woodcuts by Solis, which first appeared in the printing of the Passio appended to Georg Rhau's 1552 Hortulus animae, and as a separate edition the following year with the Apostles' Creed. Ruth Bottigheimer, "Martin Luther's Children's Bible," Wolfenbütteler Notizen zur Buchgeschichte, Volume 15 (1990), Number 2, pages 152-61; VD16 (B4811, ZV 22505) and KVK locate only the Bavarian State Library copy in Munich; this edition not in NUC or OCLC.
