Champseix's early poster style was almost Fauvist in its use of bright, unexpected colors, while later in his career, his posters took on quite a natural look. He worked for many different French railway companies and was employed by several major French printing houses, designing dozens of travel posters throughout the 1920s and 1930s. His work belonged within a popular genre espoused by the works of Commarmond, Alo, Geo Dorival, Andre Galland, Leon Constant-Duval, Roger Soubie, Roger Broders and Julien Lacaze. "Their posters are true painted pictures . . . made for the railroads, in post-impressionist style" (Weill p. 195).
