E. PAUL CHAMPSEIX L'AUVERGNE. Circa 1930.
39x243/4 inches. L. Serre, Paris.
Condition A-: minor repaired tears and creases in margins.
Constructed by Gustave Eiffel and completed in 1884 (four years before he built his world famous, eponymous tower in Paris), the Garabit Viaduct was an engineering miracle. 1853 feet long and over 400 feet high, the bridge was built out of triangular trusses making the structure both incredibly sturdy, light weight and wind resistant! It takes 38 tons of paint to cover it from end-to-end, and the bridge is painted red, which is not depicted in this poster.
