EBERHARD VON KLEYDORFF (1900-?)

IN JEDES HAUS / DER STADT - ANZEIGER. 1927.

38 1/4x26 1/2 inches, 97x67 1/4 cm. M. Dumont Schauberg, Cologne.
Condition A: minor repaired pin holes and restoration in corners.

Kleydorf studied architecture in Munich and painting in Dusseldorf and Weimar. He settled in Munich where he became a graphic designer. Mostly remembered for his caricatures from the 1920s and 30s, he was ultimately deemed "entartet" (degenerate) by the Nazi regime. Here, he is promoting the local "Stadt Anzeiger," which was a free magazine filled with ads and classifieds that was distributed to "every home." His architectural training clearly on display, he presents a toy-like view of various houses, to indicate just how many different households the periodical would reach.
