Scauflaire was a Belgian painter who regularly exhibited his works throughout Belgium as well as at various Biennials throughout Europe. He studied at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Liège, where he was born. Many of his paintings reflect the influence of Picasso and Braque. He also designed murals and tapestries. This soft, Art Deco, aquatic allegory is one of at least two posters used to promote this World's Fair.
